Why don’t you appreciate the beauty of these red Japanese plums in full bloom?
The wild flowering trees called yae-kankou or literally double-petalled cold red plum planted in a park in NISHIOGI.
Japanese people often use the phrase, shou-chiku-bai (pine, bamboo and plum) in happy events; they are traditionally considered to be auspicious plants because they bear winter coldness and have particular meanings of longevity, prosperity and elegance, respectively.
In spite of lacking a pine close by, you would feel fortunate when you look at these wave-shaped, blight red petals connected with a bamboo grove.

この満開の紅梅の美しさを鑑賞してはいかがでしょうか？
西荻の公園に植栽されている、代表的な野梅性の梅の一つ「八重寒紅（やえかんこう）」。
日本人はしばしば「松竹梅」という言葉を、めでたいものとして慶事に用いる。これら３つの樹木とも寒さに耐えるところから、この言葉が生まれ、それぞれ長寿、繁栄、風雅を意味するとされる。
この紅梅の周りに「松」がないが、竹藪を背景に咲き誇る、波打つ紅色の花弁を見ると、めでたい気分になります。
