Despite the intense heat, the market was crowded with people shopping and walking around town.
On Sunday, July 21, 2024, “Shinmei-Dori Morning Market” was held on Shinmei Street in NISHIOGI with the participation of 33 stores.
Take these freshly picked pesticide-free vegetables (long, slender eggplants, white eggplants and sweet peppers) from NISHIOGI, for example. Early morning, people harvested them wearing rain boots.
Of these, the white eggplants are said to have been featured several times on TV Tokyo’s talk live show “Cambrian Palace”; the meat inside is dense and becomes meltingly soft when heated, so they are also called “Toro-nasu” or melting eggplants.

猛暑にもかかわらず、買い物や街歩きをする人々で大いに賑わいました。
2024年7月21日（日）、西荻の神明通りで33店参加により開催された、「神明通りあさ市」。
例えばこの、取れたての、西荻産の無農薬野菜（長なす、白ナス、甘とうがらし）。朝早くから長靴をはいて収穫しました。このうち、「白ナス」は、テレビ東京のトーク・ライブ・ショー番組「カンブリア宮殿」で数回取り上げられたとのことで、中の肉は緻密な感じで、加熱調理するととろけるような柔らかさになるので「トロナス」とも呼ばれるそうです。
