Visitors seem to be asked,” What kind of wind do you feel from the exhibits? What kind of wind do you bring them?”
The annual international art event “Trolls in the Park” (Nov.3-Nov.23) is on now around the NISHIOGI area including Zenpukuji Park. This year’s theme is “The Scent of Wind.”
For example, there is an installation titled “The Wind from 102 Years Ago” that is displayed on a pillar of the north exit of JR NISHIOGIKUBO Station. According to the explanation, the work depicts the scenery of NISHIOGIKUBO Station as it was when it opened in 1922, along with the artist’s own reflection looking upon it, and is an attempt to express the wind blowing now as it once did in this area.
Meanwhile, an installation of several animal silhouettes displayed on the bank of “Upper Pond”, titled “Doors of Animals”, is said to be a work that reminds viewers of the presence of animals that breathe life quietly in Tokyo, driven away by human activity.
トロールの森2024
見学者は、展示作品にどんな風を感じますか、どんな風を呼び込みますか？と問いかけられているようです。
善福寺公園を中心に西荻窪駅周辺で開催されている毎年恒例の「トロールの森2024」（11.3～11.23）。
今年のテーマは「風のにおいThe Scent of Wind」です。
例えばこのJR西荻窪駅北口の柱に展示されている「102年前からの風」と題するインスタレーション。説明によれば、今の西荻窪駅に、開設当初（1922年）の西荻窪駅の風景とそれを覗く作者を描いた作品で、今吹いている風が、かつても同じようにこの地で吹いていた状態を表現することを試みた、とのことです。
一方、「動物たちの扉」と題する、「上の池」の池畔に展示されているいくつかの動物のシルエットのインスタレーションは、見る者に、東京に息づきながらも人間の活動に追いやられ、ひっそりと暮らす動物たちの存在を喚起する作品とのことです。
