This is a unique flower that looks as if it is waiting for something.
A potted orchid called “Paphiopedilum insigne, also known as Ladyslipper” planted at the entrance of a metal workshop in NISHIOGI. It is a perennial plant originated in Southeast Asia and southern China.
The lower sepal is a pouch-like lip, which makes it look like an insect pouch, but it is not an insectivorous plant.
It is said that the English name was chosen because the shape of the flower reminds people of women’s shoes.
Incidentally, the flower language of this flower is “elegant appearance.”
袋状の花
何かを待ち構えているような特異な花姿です。
西荻の金属工房の入り口に鉢植えされている、洋ランの「パフィオペディルム・インシグネ（別名レディースリッパ）」。東南アジア、中国南部原産の多年草。
下の蕚片が袋状の唇弁で、捕虫袋かと思わせるが、食虫植物ではないそうです。英名は、花の形が、ちょうど女性の靴を思い起こさせるところからつけられたとのこと。
因みに、この花の花言葉は、「優雅な装い」。
