BEAUTY OF PRINTS

Nostalgic scenery of the Edo period is brought back to life.
These are prints of " One Hundred Famous View of Edo" by Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858) displayed in an antique store (“Jikoh”) in the northwestern part of NISHIOGI.
The exhibits feature indigo-dyed fabric from "Kanda Konya-cho",where many indigo dyeing artizans lived and the famous "Ryogoku Fireworks", a Tokyo summer spectacle.
These traditional techniques and events have been passed down to the present day.

江戸時代の懐かしい風景がよみがえります。
西荻北西地区の骨董店(「慈光」)に展示されている、安藤広重（1797-1858）作「名所江戸百景」の版画です。
藍染職人が集住していた「神田紺屋町」の藍染めされた布および東京の夏の風物詩として有名な「両国花火」です。
こうした伝統的な技術やイベントは現在に引き継がれています。
